Basis of the edition

The present edition is based on the photographs available at the Mainzer Photoarchiv of the Hethitologie Portal Mainz, as well as the available hand-copies and relevant secondary literature up to 2019. When the original manuscripts have been collated, this is noted in the commentary.

Commentary

This fragment deals with cults for the divine mountains Kammaḫu and Daḫa, and thus probably refers to the area of Zippalanda. Although the character of the treated seasonal festivals is the same of the local cults usually dealt with in the cult inventories, the descriptions lack the typical bipartition of the offerings and the word for “cult stela” is spelled phonetically rather than logographically. Thus, the fragment constitutes a good example of a text presenting features both of a cult inventory and a festival text.

ii 6′: Both the context and the length of the gap speak against the restoration [kar-a]p-zi proposed by Groddek 2002: 26.

iii 3: It seems reasonable to assume that the spring festival is meant here (cf. iii 12, EZEN4 zenandaš=šši).
